I am often asked what the outlook is today for a career as a commercial pilot. My answer is that there has never been a better time to consider aviation. A study was released last week that really defines the opportunities that are coming available.
According to a 2013 Pilot and Technician Outlook study conducted by Boeing and released last Thursday, August 29th, Boeing predicts the need for nearly 500,000 airline pilots by 2032. The study states that there is a significant increase over previous forecasts for nearly all regions. The company says “the demand is driven by steady increases in airplane deliveries, most of which are single-aisle jets”. Worldwide, the demand manifests as about 25,000 new pilots needed each year over the next two decades, according to the company’s latest best guess.
What a great time to consider training for a career as a commercial pilot.
