June 1st is just two days away. Here we go, ladies and gentleman, the summer flying season is officially underway. With memorial day weekend behind us and the seasonal crowds beginning to make their presence known, it seems another summer is about to get underway. Our Ocean City Airport will once again be transformed from a quiet country airport into one of the hottest destinations on the east coast. Once again, we are getting ready to hitch up our belts and get ready for the boys and girls of summer. Fear not aviator, for the airport is your refuge. Let thy wife, thy children, thy mother in law trudge mightily toward that sea of sand. For you have a far higher calling. Yes, after that base camp is established in the sand, escape.. move forcefully back to the parking lot, fire up that minivan and head for the airport. Your Cessna will be waiting. Go flying. Alas, vacation is upon us!
On the family front, Alan John’s daughter will be starring in her dance recital next Saturday. John, being the proud dad he is, will be taking a day off next week to enjoy her performance.
On the “what’s new” front, we are excited to introduce our newest team member, Marc Hutcheson. Marc has joined our flight staff last week as a flight instructor with both instrument instructor and multi-engine instructor endorsements. Marc makes his home in Bowers Beach, Delaware with his wife and seven week old son Andrew. Marc has a ton of experience as a professional pilot. Prior to joining Ocean Aviation, Marc previously flew a Pilatus PC 12 for a major charter operator in Maine. Marc will be working along with our other instructors, Mike and John to provide the highest level of flight instruction for our students. We are excited to have Marc join our team. Look for more staff announcements in the near future.
Also, we have added a Cessna Skyhawk SP to our fleet. Our new aircraft, N197ME is a beautiful 2000 Cessna Skyhawk equipped with all the latest avionics including a King IFR certified GPS with moving map. The Cessna 172SP is more powerful and faster than our other Skyhawk’s so if you have a trip in mind, make sure you make your reservation early for “Mike Echo”.
