It was a big week here at the flight academy. The sixth annual Ocean City Airshow took place this past weekend. Once again, it was a great show and drew crowds from all over to the beach to watch an assortment of great performers show their stuff. Although we did miss the Blue Angels, grounded by the sequestration, the other performers more than made up for the loss of the famous jet team. What incredible performances of aviators such as Shawn Carroll, Mike Wiskus and the Geico Skytypers. Did you see that helicopter? Helicopters are not supposed to fly upside down. Hoping our students don’t try to copy that! And what about that L39 and the Harrier Jet. Absolutely incredible! Want to give a big shout out to our airport manager Jaime who worked tirelessly here at the airport this weekend to make sure the event went off without a hitch.
Flight School News –Two of our young students, Tony Woody and Kevin Hudgins joined us as we flew our Skyhawk’s down the beach. It was a thrill to once again be a part of the airshow. We had to scrub our Saturday flight due to a schedule conflict but more than made up for it on Sunday. Our hats are off to all the people responsible for bringing a great event to Ocean City. Can’t wait till next year.
On the home front, Nancy Meredith earned her private pilots license last week. Congrats to Nancy. Proud of you! Also, on the solo front, Tom Barron took to the sky by himself for the first time last week. His first supervised solo went flawlessly, as did his second supervised solo a few days later.
Scheduling. If at all possible, please remember to schedule your aircraft early as our schedule is filling up. Also, if you need to cancel, please cancel early as our schedule is filling up and your fellow students/renters will be very appreciative.
Old Friends – an old friend may be rejoining our team. We will keep you in suspense but I can say to a lot of our students, an old favorite may be coming back.
Upcoming Event… please mark your calendars for July 6th. We will be having an open house here at our facility over the July 4th weekend. Cessna will be joining us with a brand new Cessna Skyhawk. Plan on joining us!
